St. John's Wort has many magickal properties. Carrying St. Johns Wort is a masculine herb, ruled by the Sun and its element is fire. When placed in a jar and hung by the window it can protect against thunderbolts, fire and evil spirits. Placing beneath the pillow of an unmarried women can help her dream of her future husband. St. Johns Wort is used for st johns wortprotection, calming anxiety and the perception of spirits. Keep the dried leaves with you to rub on your wrists and temples when stress or anxiety begins to take hold. St. John's oil has remarkable soothing and healing action when rubbed into painful joints and strained muscles. Celtic tradition held that the druids wore it in battle for invincibility. Burning it can help with the exorcise of negative spirits. Make a tea with 1 tablespoon to 8 oz of water, for a good antidote for depression or for a bad day at the office. St. John's wort should be harvested on a Friday in the hour of Jupiter during the full moon.
In ancient times, herbalists wrote about its use as a sedative and a treatment for malaria, as well as a balm for wounds, burns, and insect bites.
