When Spirits come Calling,Answer the Door!
First of all i would like to wish everyone a wonderful Holiday Season whether it is a Pagan or Mundane celebration with family. 
I hope it is a happy one for you. We had a house full of close friends and coven members over for pie and coffee on Thanksgiving eve and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. We stayed up quite late and fell into bed at around 1 am. Sleep came easily and deeply.
So why on Thanksgiving morning am I awake at 03:45 am? After laying on my back looking at the ceiling listening to my husbands soft snoring I finally realize someone wants me up real bad. The amount of visual prompting was rather obvious once I fully woke up. I am quite used to visitations from Spirits passing through my house. It stopped bothering me long long ago. Most are just passing by, peaceful and beautiful. Golden energy strings, turquoise cascades, Orbs with faces, Little red Lights, Small black dots that zing around. These are all spirit form manifestations that come through and can be seen. My Grandfather called Pop loves to have a deck of cards put on the table as he loves to play Solitaire and my eyes always fill with tears when my Mother is nearby. Some don't have good energy or intent and are encouraged to just go on their way.
But to get back to the point, being awoken this morning is just another time. But this had an urgency that isn't usual. My first thought was about my coven mates who broadcast loudly and it wouldn't be the first time I was woken up by one in the middle of the night. I couldn't feel the stress of anyone I knew. But the insistence to get up remained so I did. I went to the guest bathroom feeling someone was pushing me by the shoulders.
Well guess what, the bathroom door was totally unlocked. Anyone could have gotten in as it is at the back of the house. Once I touched the locks and bolted the door,I felt the tension go. So whoever that was looking out for me this morning, thank you.
To be able to receive a message is not something you can control. But being open to it is within your ability. Unfortunately a lot of people fear even the possibilities of Spirit contact that they won't ever be able to be receptive. I maintain there is nothing to fear anymore than going to the Mall. If you can walk amongst total strangers in this form, you should be able to just as freely in the spirit world. The safety and dangers are the same, so why be anymore worried?
Meditation,Practice and simply being open to the possibilty is the place to start and no one can tell you 'how'. But If you do try, you will get some wonderful gifts given to you.
